LEVEL 4 DIPLOMA IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE

Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (RQF) for staff in a Senior Carer Role or who are wanting to progress to a Junior Manager or Care Manager role. It is for students who are already working in care in a supervisory capacity, perhaps as a senior carer or senior support worker and wish to increase their knowledge. It builds on knowledge and skills learned in the level 3 qualification and adds some additional supervisory management and leadership knowledge and skills or provide coaching and mentoring to their colleagues. The level 4 diploma in care will further, specialist skills and knowledge in their area of responsibility which enables them to lead in areas such as assessment or enablement, for instance. Learners will have responsibility for assessing performance and quality of care delivery.

There are 2 pathways to choose from. These are:

  2. Children and Young People’s Care.

COURSE ASSESSMENT

You will build up a portfolio of evidence. This will be in the form of written statements or ‘Reflective Accounts’ along with supporting work products you have produced.

An assessor will visit you in the workplace at some point and undertake observations of you at work. This will be planned in advance in order to cause the minimum disruption to your work routine and to try to capture as much information as possible in one visit.

You may also supply witness testimonies or statements from third parties with whom you work. This may include supervisors or a line manager or other suitably qualified individuals who understand your job role and the standards you have to meet in order to obtain this level of qualification.

There are a total of 70 credits that make up this qualification. These are generated from a series of mandatory and optional units. As part of our service, SVT will look to tailor the optional units around you as an individual, making the qualification as personal as possible for each individual.

On average most learners will complete in 6-8 months. Some may take less depending on their personal circumstances and how much time they have to dedicate to the course. We will work at a pace that suits you. You will have full uncapped support for 12 months.

On successful completion of this award, you may progress onto the Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care and other short courses in the Social Care sector.
