MANUAL HANDLING LEVEL 2

The aim of this course is to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of how to minimise the risks of injury in the workplace to both themselves and those around them. This can be done through increasing awareness of possible manual handling hazards in the workplace, and their effects.

This training course allows the student to develop their knowledge on Manual Handling. They will gain the understanding in order to develop safer manual handling methods. This course introduces learners to the risks and hazards involved in everyday manual handling.

This course is suitable for all employees who carry out manual handling at work, whether that be in an industrial or office environment.  It provides an effective means of ensuring that employees are aware of their responsibilities and have understood the principles of the safe moving and lifting of loads.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Understand the common causes of workplace injury/harm, the significance of manual handling injuries/harm and the benefits of appropriate risk controls.
  • Explaining with reference to manual handling what is meant by the terms ‘hazard’, ‘risk’ and ‘control measure’.
  • Understand appropriate general actions that can be taken to reduce the risk from manual handling injuries including ergonomics.
